The Challenge
The project required skilled field technicians capable of working in rail environments while maintaining consistent installation quality and supporting complex onboard communications technologies.
- Support deployment of onboard Wi-Fi and network connectivity systems for railcars
- Install routers, antennas, switches, cabling, and supporting infrastructure for a multiple different train types
- Ensure testing, validation, and commissioning prior to deployment
- Must have specialized tools and testers besides basic tools
The Solution
Partnered with Icomera who provide smart connectivity service to the end user. Under Icomera, Uni-Data provided field execution and installation services supporting onboard connectivity deployments. Dedicated installation teams were mobilized to perform equipment installation, cable routing, testing, validation, and commissioning support while coordinating closely with Icomera project management and engineering teams.
- Recruited and trained technicians to provide specialized installation technicians for railcar modernization projects
- Mobilized a multiple crews to support various locations in the U.S and Canada
- Installed onboard routers, access points, antennas, switches, and supporting infrastructure
- Performed RF, Ethernet, and power cable installation, testing, and validation
- Supported commissioning activities and go-live coordination
- Coordinated directly with Icomera project managers, field engineers, and site personnel throughout deployment
